Troubleshooting

If your circuit isn’t lighting up, try a few things:
• Make sure the coin cell battery is facing the right way (+ side down) – it’s easy to flip it over and try the circuit again!
• Make sure the LED legs are securely touching the copper tape (with the + long leg as marked)

Basically, you need the circuit to make a complete circle for the electricity to flow. So, you need the + side of the battery to touch the copper tape, which touches the LED, which connects to the other piece of copper tape, which connects to the – side of the battery when the flap is pressed.

If you’ve checked all the connections and it’s still not working, try just testing the LED with the battery directly by holding the legs of the LED on each side. (Make sure the long leg is on the + side of the battery and the short leg is on the – side!) If this doesn’t work, you may have an LED or battery that isn’t working.

Happy reading and making!
