Short Bio

Vicky Fang is the author-illustrator of the Ava Lin chapter book series, the Friendbots early comic series, the AlphaBot novelty book, and the forthcoming One Mad Cat early graphic novel series. She is the author of the Layla and the Bots series, the Best Buddies series, the I Can Code board book series, the picture books Invent-a-Pet and The Boo Crew Needs You!, and the forthcoming Lots and Lots of Ocelots. A former Google product designer, she now writes and illustrates children’s books full-time. You can learn more at vickyfang.com.

Longer Bio

She started writing to support the growing need for early STEM education, particularly for girls and kids of color. Vicky now also illustrates many of her titles, on topics of SEL, STEM, and creativity. She writes fiction stories with fun and endearing characters, as well as non-fiction books with interactive elements to engage young readers. Vicky’s goal is to inspire kids to approach their world creatively, thoughtfully, and boldly.

She is also a former TV actress, theater director, game designer, and installation artist. She has presented her work at PlayCon, EYEO, SIGGRAPH, and others. She holds twelve invention patents.

Originally from Boston, Vicky now lives in North Vancouver, BC.
